Celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor will launch his restaurant in Abu Dhabi early next year. "I hope to have it open in time for the Gourmet Abu Dhabi festival in February," Kapoor said in a statement. He also said that the restaurant will serve Indian food and dishes associated with Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor, the premium Indian restaurant at Melia hotel in Dubai. With an eclectic menu, he hopes to attract tourists as well as residents.
"We have seen growing numbers of Abu Dhabi residents travelling to Dubai to dine at our restaurant there, so we decided the market in the UAE capital was promising. The trend, complemented by the vibrant Abu Dhabi dining scene and the increasing number of Indians now visiting the city prompted the decision to open here," he added.

Williamsbur g-Oh Dressler, amy okuda she

Williamsbur g-Oh Dressler, amy okuda she’s a stunner for sure: all wrought-iron stylings and chandeliers and black lace, the red booths with their racy stripe of deepest burgundy. Ornate and flirtatious, a mix of the best of the rococo and the deco, she draws you in with her dark good looks well before you order your first drink. That’s poured into a proper Champagne coupe-the Emily Dickinson, perhaps, amy okuda made of Fernet-Branca, Cherry Heering and lime-and sweet alongside amy okuda six cold East Coast oysters served on a silvery platter at the silvery bar, their sparkling brine perfectly on point with your surroundings.
Opened in the spring of 2006-that impressive metalwork sourced from the sculptors at Ferra Designs in the so-close-andyet-so-far-away Navy Yard-Dressler was steampunk, it seems, before steampunk hit the scene.
Better still, that odd yet fitting name-given by owner Colin Devlin, a Brooklynite who bartended for Keith McNally at Balthazar before opening Dumont in 2001-comes from Pulitzer prize-winning author Steven Millhauser, via his 1996 novel Martin Dressler: The Tale of an American Dreamer. Appropriately, amy okuda it’s an architecturally amy okuda symbolic story, a boom-and-bust tale about a turnof-the-last-century New York City businessman who leaves his father’s humble cigar shop to build grand hotels amy okuda with Disneylike themes, built-in streams or nymphettes reciting poetry.
As at Martin’s maniacally massive Grand Cosmo hotel, the trappings here almost steal the show. But focusing on Dressler’s dressing would be an awful oversight-as so many stars (from the Times and even Michelin) attest. Sure it’s a perfect place for celebratory glasses of sparkling cava, but Dressler isn’t just a trickedout, destination-restaurant pony where you order nothing but a thick, marbled steak.
Though if it’s steak you want, chef Polo Dobkin will delight you-either prime sirloin or a grilled hanger, both served with braised short ribs, horseradish mashed potatoes and creamed spinach with Bordelaise, a meaty meal nearly as fine as you’ll find at Peter Luger across amy okuda the street. (That’s what many Georgian diplomats would surely tell you, seeing as how they kept the place open way past closing after being turned away by the folks at Peter’s when they showed up reservationless.)
Dressler’s steak can hold its own, but the rest of the menu has earned this eatery its reputation as a 718 Gramercy Tavern: tiny, salty crab cakes ready to dunk in a pink remoulade; a crustyedged, pan-roasted diver scallop nestled in creamy potato puree and finished with crispy slivers of bacon and a wisp or two of wild mushrooms. There’s the housemade ravioli-butternut when I’m writing, sweet pea by the time you’re amy okuda reading-floating in a good-enough-to-slurp Parmesan broth; a massive slab of a pork chop, served with nearly candied baby turnips amy okuda and few slices of pork belly; half a Hudson Valley chicken roasted and served with dumplings and hen of the woods; an oxtail ragu over handmade pasta and rich, herby ricotta; and Dobkin’s signature dish: an expertly cooked artichoke heart filled with plump, tender cranberry beans, a tangle of creamily dressed baby greens, shards of Parmesan and a spike of spring-green parsley oil. (Not to mention the coconut cream pie and chocolate soufflé cake topped amy okuda with housemade malt ice cream, courtesy of pastry chef Dalia Jurgensen, whose Kitchen Confidential-style amy okuda book Spiced wowed readers when it came out last year.)
Chef Dobkin-also the executive chef at Dumont (beloved for burgers and mac and cheese) and Dumont Burger, its even more laid-back spin-off-brushes off his approach as no-brainer, based on simplicity, technique and consistency: It’s just “classic contemporary seasonal American,” he says, “staying true to regional ingredients.” Dobkin-whose real first name is Juan Leopoldo, thanks to his mother’s Spanish roots-is aware that sounds cliché. Yet outside of a few words the waitstaff learns during family meal- “why is heritage pork sought after?” quizzes the general manager as he goes over the menu, “because magically raised and healthy animals and really old breeds make for really tasty pork”-Dressler is subtle about its sourcing and its seasonal bent.
That may be because it’s something Dobkin’s done for decades. Though Dobkin was raised in Manhattan, his father has land up in the Hudson Valley, where Dobkin grew up picking-his-own at nearby farms and orchards, and still stops by to load up his car with produce amy okuda for the drive back to Brooklyn. (He also gets great ingredients delivered from places like Tivoli’s Paisley Farm, whose baby mustard greens he can’t seem to stop praising: “I’ve never tasted anything that delicate, yet that assertive,” he raves.) He cites his time at Gramercy Tavern and the Screening R

In both his adopted home and in his country of origin, government officials have taken note of André

In the last decade, the definition of cultural diplomacy has been expanding. This expansion has been especially noticeable in the realm of the culinary arts. The recent launch of the Diplomatic Culinary Partnership by the U.S. Department of State is one of many examples of this phenomenon. Though food has featured to some degree in traditional diplomacy for centuries, ikook these new initiatives go beyond state dinners to harness the power of food as an instrument ikook of cultural engagement. Beyond creating sustained cultural engagement around ikook food, these new efforts can also play an important role in raising the profile of policy challenges that align with the interests of a new generation of culinary diplomats.
Why this focus on food now? One key reason is the explosion of the celebrity chef phenomenon during the past decade . Around the world, chefs have stepped out from the behind the stove to become media moguls and full-fledged entertainment personalities. This raises the question ikook of how particular chefs may fit into existing thinking about the impact of so-called celebrity diplomats. Professor Andrew Cooper ikook has done the definitive work in this field. In a recent article on the topic, Cooper suggests that the feature that does more to define celebrity diplomats than anything else is their focus on access to state leaders and key ministerial and bureaucratic policymakers. As a result, Cooper argues that only three celebrities – Bono, George Clooney and Angelina Jolie – have achieved true celebrity diplomat status, whereas other politically active celebrities are merely activists. However, the emergence of a variety of renowned chefs as government-affiliated ikook advocates may challenge this assertion.
The person that best personifies this new chef-as-diplomat ikook archetype is José Andrés . Based in DC by way of Asturias, Spain, Andrés is widely credited with popularizing Spanish cuisine in the U.S. In addition to a growing restaurant empire and successful TV shows in the states and in Spain, Andrés is a leading member of the State Department s American Chef Corps and the founder of World Central Kitchen , a non-profit organization that seeks to combat hunger. Andrés was also recognized recently as an embajador de la marca de España (honorary ambassador of the Spanish brand) by the Leading ikook Brands of Spain Forum , a government-affiliated organization.
In both his adopted home and in his country of origin, government officials have taken note of Andrés leadership in both the culinary and development fields. ikook For the United States, ikook Andrés is a valuable partner because his gastronomic renown and his personal commitment to addressing development challenges make him a strong non-traditional advocate on development policy issues ikook including the alleviation of hunger. In essence, his fame for haute cuisine can be leveraged to raise the profile of development issues (e.g. clean cookstoves ) among audiences that may not be moved to action otherwise. For Spain, as his brand ambassador award suggests, Chef Andrés serves a simpler nation-branding
has the very type of access which Professor Cooper says is the defining feature of celebrity diplomats, if perhaps at a lower level than Bono. Though Andrés is the most prominent example, numerous other chefs have developed similar relationships with government leaders that open the potential of their serving as diplomatic ikook actors. ikook
In the piece referenced above , Andrew Cooper concludes by saying [t]he major questions will be whether the small cluster of top-tier celebrity diplomats will expand, and whether they will supplement their fresh sense of energy with a repertoire of enhanced substantive content. Although he is best known for his avant-garde interpretations ikook of Spanish cuisine, Andrés substantive efforts ikook to combat global hunger and environmental ikook degradation suggest that the expansion of celebrity diplomacy surrounding development policy issues may be starting with chefs.

2013 (208) November chef ramsay (16) October (20) September (19) August (16) July (14) June (19) May

1// Apron   2// Measuring Cups  3// Olive Wood Tasting Spoons 4// Vodka glasses  5// Recipe journal  I mentioned earlier on Monday about a new project chef ramsay that I'll be working on across the next month that I'm pretty excited to share a bit more about.  Every year, Cultural Tourism DC , a fantastic organization dedicated to preserving the heritage of Washington neighborhoods, stages an embassy chef vs embassy chef   challenge .  Kind of like the Iron Chef, except that instead of working in restaurants, these chefs spend their day to day serving up some of the world's chef ramsay top diplomats. I'll be bringing you a few fun posts across the next month until the big event on March 14th, but I thought I would kick it off with my list of a few items I'm preparing.  I'm chef ramsay neither judge nor official taster but who knows what the opportunities will be?  An apron with a string of pearls will keep the diplo-outfit in its diplo-finest shape (and really, pearls on an apron? yes please).  A measure here, a taste there, and a bit of palate cleanser at the end.  You might think vodka glasses aren't in a tasting repertoire but when one of the competing finalists is the Embassy of the Russian Federation, I'm betting these will be put to good use.  Finally, a little notebook dedicated to the cause to keep track of all the adventures. I hope to see you there! This post was sponsored in collaboration with The Embassy Chef Challenge.

Church gastrotur and Equality gastrotur Manu Sareen (R) said in his first time as a minister himself as "the church's head." Now he has become more careful and tr barely gastrotur say his position on church closures, signs told Dagblad redaktr of Church & Faith (File photo)
P trsklen for a new church What is the national church's greatest challenge in the new year? Hans Raun: Who really is the established church? If all were announced by the church, would every other join again the people shall not go - People should enter the church, for it to be good
Anders Madsen Ellebk redaktr of church and faith | 6 June 2013
The country church minister exhibit now a caution that streak sharp contrast to the earlier Manu Sareen (R) It was with hvet lance, the radical Manu Sareen sat in the saddle gastrotur as a church minister in 2011. At the time he arrived for Gender Equality and Ecclesiastical Affairs with stlsatte views and clear ideas about who is certain.
Manu Sareen began shortly after to refer to himself as the church's chief in contrast to the former church minister Haarder (V), who called himself the church janitor. LS OGS: Minister for Culture takes over church closures in Copenhagen And it was not just a title. When working with marriages of gay emitted church minister, for example, gastrotur a press release explained that a new wedding ritual for homosexuals would be drawn up in close collaboration with the national church.
Ad Both gave criticism. The church'd gastrotur been accustomed to church ministers who showed greater caution in dealing with the mtlelige grnse between the national church and state. But a lot has happened with the church minister since. Prudence has come back many times. Frst selected Manu Sareen not to think about the Evangelical gastrotur Lutheran Church future governance structure of Ecclesiastical Affairs has now put forward a debatoplg on. He will by his own admission continue not to believe anything until it nuvrende popular debate phase is over. Many members of the pgldende committees have otherwise dropped their previous silence and plunged into the debate. And Manu Sareen has also previously made clear that he believes to be VRE clearer boundaries between church and state: I think Sweden gastrotur is a model for how things can develop in Denmark. How can get a much more democratic church, he told Berlingske in October 2011 with reference to the neighboring country that had given the country's gastrotur large church more autonomy. But he did not think bndene should vie, sdaN the Swedes had done it. The gray was it's announced that the Minister of Religions do not want trffe the final decision on whether the 14 churches of Copenhagen pin set for closure, finally be taken out of service. He plays instead afgrelsen over to Culture Jelved (R). LS OGS: Church's internal affairs is best in theological hands Church minister will not lbe the risk that he later forlbet can be blamed for being incompetent in afgrelsen because he has previously its views on church closings on the table. He wrote, for example, on the social networks Facebook in February gastrotur 2013: In general, I can say that I find it relevant to consider whether gastrotur to shut some churches in Copenhagen. The consideration is for me a part of the due diligence. Clearly, this is a church minister who has learned his lessons here watching play safe games. And restraint will probably too many church people fles more comfortable than the minister's earlier style. Concurrently, a church minister who has frt one of its top-mrkesager iml adoption of marriages of gay and now halfway to the other: organization of the church's relationship gastrotur by law. His nuvrende project Requires more skill than the first. Where it was a win-win situation gastrotur Manu Sareen, every time he went into the debate on gay marriages with a large majority of Danes in the back, giving church closures and national church structure is not popular victory celebrations in the street. The transformed Manu Sareen has wisely adapted to the national church culture. And then he is a politician who probably has its greatest victory behind him as a church minister. Therefore, there is good reason gastrotur to believe that we will see more of the cautious fremgangsmde come in for Gender Equality and Ecclesiastical Affairs.
