Diane has just announced the musicians the tasting kitchen of our string quartet: Chamber Dance Proj

Chamber Dance Project is excited to announce that one of the hottest choreographers in South America , Jorge Amarante, the tasting kitchen will be our guest choreographer creating a world premiere for our June 2014 season. Jorge is Artistic Director of the famed Ballet del Teatro Colón. Born in Buenos Aires, he has danced and choreographed with major companies south of the equator….including Julio Bocca s Ballet Argentino. He founded his own company, Surdance Ensemble in 2003.
It the tasting kitchen was at the IV International Ballet the tasting kitchen in Cali, Colombia, where Jorge and Chamber the tasting kitchen Dance Project Artistic Director, Diane Coburn Bruning met. Chamber Dance Project was invited to perform two of Diane’s works and there she saw Jorge’s work. Diane says I was entirely blown away by the verve, gutsy physicality and sensuousness of Jorge s work. I vowed then to bring his work to the States and we have been planning that since.
A Dancing Chef and …… Who will be there? Well, you should be. Will there be dancing? This is for Chamber Dance Project – of course there will be dancing! But not you and not yet our dancers but DC s notables. A celebrity chef. A diplomat. Maybe your least-favorite elected official? This will have to be seen to be believed–this is not your grandfather s gala. Unless of course, your grandfather is from Argentina, but that s all we will say about that right now. Get ready. You ll laugh. You ll cry. The glory of victory, the struggle for perfection, the disappointment of defeat. Don t miss this. Just be there. Save Thursday, April 10 from 6:30 on to see some fine celebrity tango-ing….. Tickets go on sale in a month.
On October 19th Ballet Nova hosted us in our first studio event as their Resident Company. Diane and dancers did a demo-discussion on the evolution of the classical pas de deux to the contemporary duet with audience members helping to choreograph the tasting kitchen a new duet on the spot. Then, showing her work-in-progress for the first time, dancers Luis Torres and Andile Ndlovu performed “ Exit Wounds: and then they came home .”
What ensued was an impassioned discussion the tasting kitchen of the work which one audience member noted, began with four men leading the discussion (men and dance, oh yeah!) The work will be made into a dance film and we have been invited to premiere the work out of town in March….more the tasting kitchen on that to come.
Diane has just announced the musicians the tasting kitchen of our string quartet: Chamber Dance Project is one of the few dance companies in the country to work exclusively with live music – dance is a performing art and working with live musicians means collaborating the tasting kitchen in the moment….we are committed to dance with live music as an integral part of the performance.
